永进豪50周年纪念动画化作品第三部！12月22日，《甜心战士》宣布2018年再度动画化，这是永井豪第三部再度动画化的作品。《甜心战士》的新作动画命名为《甜心战士 宇宙》（Cutie Honey Universe），是继《恶魔人crybaby》《剧场版 魔神Z/INFINITY》之后第三部为纪念永井豪画业50周年再度动画化的作品，核心概念是“帅气而又可爱的妹子”。 《甜心战士》在此之前已经进行了电视动画、真人电视剧、真人电影等跨媒体展开。
本次动画化将回到原点，并加入新的精华。新作动画的监督由横山彰利担当，系列构成由高桥奈津子负责，角色设计兼作画监督由井关修一担当，动画由Production REED制作。永井豪表示：继我的代表作《恶魔人》《魔神Z》之后，《甜心战士》也决定动画化了，真的非常高兴！这下，永井豪50周年纪念的动画化作品也会完结了吧。在少年漫画周刊杂志和电视动画节目同时诞生的，我的女主角（英雄），数次成为了动画、漫画、电影，现在也非常活跃。本次动画化的核心概念是“帅气可爱”，如月甜心会怎样在现代复苏，会怎样“帅气可爱”地活跃给我们看呢，我从现在起就开始期待了。
《甜心战士》的主角是教会学校的一名高中生——如月甜心，其实真身为体内蕴藏有“空中元素固定装置” （空中存在的元素自由结合或使物体物质分解的一个系统装置）的美少女姿态仿生人。她与盗窃宝石与美术品的犯罪组织——豹之爪战斗的，其中还夹杂着与早见一家愉快的事情。
